Lake City's run of four straight victories now over

It was a good run, but Lake City unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Thursday. They lost 64-39 to the Mullins Auctioneers. The match marked the Panthers' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

When it comes to explaining why Lake City lost, don't look at Devin Cockfield. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 13 points and ten boards. Cockfield is also crushing it when it comes to steals: he's grabbed at least two every time he's taken the court this season.

Mullins was led to victory by Dakarai Worley and Deyon Ford. Worley went 8 of 14 on his way to 16 points in addition to eight rebounds and three steals, while Ford went 8 of 14 on his way to 17 points and four steals. Another player making a difference was Ernest Ford, who posted eight points and five steals.

Lake City's defeat was their first in the region, dropping their region record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 4-3. As for Mullins, the win (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 10-1.

Lake City will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Hartsville at 7:30 p.m. on January 3, 2025. As for Mullins, they and South Brunswick will face off at 5:00 p.m. on Friday without much rest having both just played. Mullins is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 63.3 points per game this season.
