Mr. Ronald Earl Lyerly, 84, of Lake City, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 7, 2025, at McLeod Hospice House, Florence, surrounded by his family.  

Mr. Lyerly was born on January 12, 1940, in Florence County, son of the late Eugene Lyerly and Beatrice Cameron Lyerly. He was a 1959 graduate of Lake City High School, Veteran of The United States Navy and retired from mechanic work for Talon Corporation. He enjoyed gardening, especially blueberry bushes and banana trees on the home farm. He also enjoyed observing nature, watching God’s creatures in their normal habitat.   

Surviving are his siblings, Nancy Lyerly Long of Bennettsville, Bonnie Lyerly (Allen) Coward of Coward, Cheryl Lyerly (Russell) Cox of Florence and Larry Allen Lyerly (Doris Coker) of Scranton; a number of nieces and nephews.

Mr. Lyerly was preceded in death by a brother, Carlton Lyerly; niece, Cindy Tyler; brother in law, Thomas Long; sister in law, Margaret Lyerly.

The family would like to thank Medford Nursing Home of Darlington, McLeod Regional Medical Center, and McLeod Hospice House for such gracious and compassionate care that they showed during his time of need.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM – 2:00 PM, Thursday, January 9, 2025, at Carolina Funeral Home.  

Funeral services will be 2:00 PM, Thursday, January 9, 2025, at Carolina Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be private.

Memorials may be made to Samaritan’s Purse for hurricane victims in NC, PO Box 3000, Boone, NC 28607.
